Roquetes, August 2, 2017 – The Ebre Observatory has achieved a new european research project, within the Competitiveness of the European Space Sector: Technoloty and Science call (H2020 COMPET-5: Space Weather). The proposal has been evaluated with the highest rate and is expected to begin later this year. The project is titled “Warning and Mitigation Technologies for Travelling Ionospheric Disturbances Effects (TechTIDE)" and consists of a consortium of 13 participants from all over Europe, South Africa and United States. The project will last 2 and a half years and its total budget is €1,577,163, of which €117,250 are allocated for the contribution of the Ebro Observatory. The overarching objective of TechTIDE is to design and test new viable TID impact mitigation strategies for the technologies affected and in close collaboration with operators of these technologies, to demonstrate the added value of the proposed mitigation techniques which are based on TechTIDE products.
